Before we dive into talking about the Hypervolt Go in-depth, we want to take a moment to introduce the manufacturer, Hyperice.
This company got its start in 2010, and is based in Irvine, California.
The company says, “We believe the quality of life is intimately connected to movement. Whether you’re an elite athlete, a fitness enthusiast, or seeking a healthier lifestyle, the way you move determines the way you feel. Our devices allow you to move better, so you can feel your absolute best.”
Hyperice also says, “Hyperice connects the innovation of technology to the art of movement. Our products are designed with a synthesis of science and physiology to support and advance the human condition.”
Hypervolt Go: A Portable Percussive Therapy Gun
The Hypervolt product line consists of the original Hypervolt, the Hypervolt 2, the Hypervolt 2 Pro, the Hypervolt Plus, and the Hypervolt Go.
Hyperice designed the Go model with portability in mind for those who need a therapy gun while they are traveling or at the gym.
Dimensions, Weight, Construction and Design
Regardless of your reasons for buying a percussive therapy gun, the overall construction is always going to be important. But it is extra important when you are purchasing a model for portable use.
You need your device to be compact and lightweight enough for travel. At the same time, it needs to be durably built since it may be subject to a little more wear and tear than a therapy gun that will just sit at home all day or in an office.
So, how does the Hypervolt Go measure up?
This product measures just 5.5 x 5.5 x 2 in and weighs only 1.5 pounds.
That really is quite compact and lightweight for a percussive therapy gun. For comparison, the size of the original Hypervolt is 9.7 x 7 x 2.5 in. Its weight is 2.5 pounds.
In fact, there are quite a few therapy guns on the market that weigh closer to 3 pounds.
So, you are using a device that is about half as heavy as many other models, and significantly smaller.
That should make it relatively easy to pack and carry. Indeed, it is even TSA-approved for your carry-on luggage.
While we are talking about transporting the Hypervolt Go, we will mention that so far as we can tell, it does not seem to come with its own case. This does seem a bit of an oversight for a device designed with portability in mind.
Finally, one more thing to discuss with respect to construction is materials.
As far as we can tell, the body of this percussive therapy gun is made of plastic. But it is reasonably tough plastic, and should be just fine for bringing with you on the go.
This device is powered by a brushless high-torque 40W motor. This may not be the most powerful motor out there in general for percussive therapy guns, but considering the compact size of the device, it is pretty impressive.
Amplitude, Force, Depth, and Speeds
Now, let’s talk a bit more about what you can expect as far as the performance of the Hypervolt Go.
We could not find any official data with respect to the stall force or amplitude.
But we have seen estimations that the stall force might be somewhere between 10 and 15 pounds.
That is not very high, and for that reason, this device cannot go as deep as some others.
But where this therapy gun does come out ahead of a lot of other portable models is with respect to amplitude.
Its 10mm amplitude easily beats the 7-8mm amplitude that is common among its competitors.
As for speeds, there are three of them available. While that is not amazing, it also is not bad, since most percussive therapy guns offer 3 or 5 built-in speeds.
Is the Hypervolt Go a Quiet Percussive Therapy Gun?
Once again, we did not locate official information about the decibels for this therapy gun. But we have seen estimates that it produces somewhere between 45 and 55 dB.
On average, most full size therapy guns produce somewhere between 60 and 80 dB of noise.
That means that the Hypervolt Go is significantly quieter than a lot of other therapy guns. That probably comes as a relief especially if you will be using the therapy gun in public places.
You might not have a frame of reference for how loud different decibels are. So, to give you an idea, we can turn to the examples provided by IAC Acoustics:
40: Library, bird calls (44 dB); lowest limit of urban ambient sound
50: Quiet suburb, conversation at home. Large electrical transformers at 100 feet.
60: Conversation in restaurant, office, background music, Air conditioning unit at 100 feet.
We also frequently hear around 60 decibels compared to the volume level of a standard electric toothbrush.
So, you can rest assured that the Hypervolt Go is quieter than that. That means it should not be annoying for you to use, and also should not disturb people in your proximity too much.
If you are using it in a hotel room, for example, it is unlikely that anyone in the neighboring room would even know.

How Much Battery Life Does the Hypervolt Go Offer?
Another question that is of particular concern to you as someone looking for a percussive therapy gun to use on-the-go is how much battery life you can expect.
The battery in the Hypervolt Go gives you 2.5 hours of life on a charge. While that is not the longest battery life we have seen, it is not bad at all.
One feature we love about the Hypervolt Go is ring of light around the base of the device. This light tells you how much battery life you have left so you are never caught off guard.
Alas, you do not have the option of purchasing a spare battery separately. Some devices with built-in batteries do not let you do this, and Hypervolt Go is among them.
That means there is no way to enjoy sessions that last longer than 2.5 hours.
We imagine such a feature would be incredibly helpful to, for example, someone traveling for an athletic event it is going to leave them really sore afterwards.
It would also be super helpful for anyone who is on a trip who has other pain issues and requires ongoing therapy for them.
So, we hope that a future version of the Hypervolt Go might include removable and replaceable batteries.
Ease-of-Use for Hypervolt Go
When you are on the road, you do not want to be fumbling around with a device that is difficult to use. So, how easy is it to use the Hypervolt Go?
As a small device, this travel percussive therapy gun does not include any sort of user interface screen. It also is not equipped with Bluetooth, so you cannot control it using an app.
Instead, you can control the speed setting for your device using a button.
You can tell at a glance what the current speed setting is by checking the handy LED indicator lights.
Honestly, however, these are just extra visual feedback. You will likely be able to guess the current speed just from how it feels.
Something else we want to mention with respect to ease-of-use is that the compact, lightweight build of the Hypervolt Go can be a big help.
For some customers, a heavier therapy gun weighing 3 pounds with more cumbersome dimensions can be unwieldy.
If you happen to have strain in your arms, wrists, shoulders, neck or back, you will probably find that the compact, lightweight build of this device makes it far easier to use.
For this reason, we would recommend it for more than just portable use. It can also be a good option for home use if other percussive therapy guns are too large and heavy for you.
Attachments, Parts, and Accessories
So, what is included with your purchase of the Hypervolt Go?
Here is the full listing from the product page:
The actual device
Head attachments (2)
To tailor the device to best suit the area you’re focused on
To charge your device
Additional plug adapters (3)
To keep all the attachments together and organized
Again, we do find it a bit odd that there is no mention of a case for the actual device. But it is nice that it comes with so many attachments. We have seen competing products from other brands that skimp on attachments for their portable guns.
Other optional purchases available for this product include the spare battery and the Hypervolt Charging Base.
What is the Hypervolt Go Warranty?
For whatever reason, locating specific information about warranties for Hypervolt products is difficult. The only official information we can find about warranties is that there is a one year manufacturer’s warranty for products in the Hyperice cool therapy line, and a 1-year warranty on Nomatec products, another of Hyperice’s brands.
We are guessing that the Hypervolt Go is also covered by a one year manufacturer’s warranty.
If so, based on the text here, the warranty “covers damage due to imperfections in the manufacturing process. This warranty does not cover wear due to regular use or abuse of products.”
What Are Customers Saying About Hypervolt Go?
While putting together this in-depth product guide, we wanted to find out what real life customers think of the Hypervolt Go.
So, we took a look through reviews to search for common themes.
Reviews for this product on the whole are very positive. Customers report that the therapy gun stows easily in a typical gym bag. They also like the way the handle is angled in terms of being able to reach around to one’s own back.
Indeed, some buyers commented that if you have smaller hands, you might prefer this device in general over the original Hypervolt.
Buyers also praised the overall ease of use and performance of the device.
Not surprisingly, some customers were disappointed by the fact that there is no carrying case included with a purchase of this product.
There were also buyers that were not satisfied with the power of the device. Perhaps they were expecting something comparable with other products in the Hypervolt line.
That is why it is important to do your research and understand what you are buying before you choose a therapy gun to purchase.
Is the Hypervolt Go a Good Value?
The Hypervolt Go is significantly less expensive than most other products in this or other therapy gun lines from other companies.
That being said, its price is very much in line with competing portable therapy gun pricing we have seen from other brands.
For your money, you are getting a reliable, high-quality therapy gun that is portable enough to bring with you anywhere you go.
So, we are satisfied that the Hypervolt Go is a cost-effective product that delivers excellent value for your money.
Pros and Cons of the Hypervolt Go
Now that you have had time to explore the specs and features of the Hypervolt Go in detail, we can sum up the advantages and disadvantages of this device.
Hypervolt Go Pros
First, let’s go over the advantages of the Hypervolt Go.
This product is compact, lightweight and portable. It definitely delivers on its promise of offering you an on-the-go solution.
The compact design makes the product easier to use. For some people, lifting and maneuvering a device that weighs 3 pounds and is on the bulky side is just not convenient or comfortable. The compact, lightweight nature of the 1.5 pound Hypervolt Go makes for a more comfortable experience.
The button and LED lights make it easy to control the device. Even though this product does not include a screen, it does not really need one. Controlling the speed and seeing and feeling which speed is activated is a breeze.
The amplitude is surprisingly high. In fact, the Hypervolt Go beats out many other portable percussive therapy guns with respect to this criteria.
The battery life is reasonably long. For the majority of users, 2.5 hours is probably sufficient on a charge.
This is a delightfully quiet percussive therapy gun. This can make the overall experience more enjoyable, and also will prevent you from annoying others while you are out and about with your therapy gun.
Hypervolt Go Cons
Here are the drawbacks of the Hypervolt Go.
The Hypervolt Go does not include a carrying case. This is quite odd, considering that the entire point of a portable therapy gun is to be able to carry it with you anywhere.
This product does not pack sufficient power and stall force to deliver a deep tissue massage. If you push too hard, it will interfere with the motor. Nevertheless, this is rather expected with a compact, portable therapy gun.
There are only two head attachments that come with the Hypervolt Go. It would be better if there were more. Nonetheless, at the low price point, it does not surprise us.
The battery in the Hypervolt Go is not removable. So, there is no way to get a replacement or spare battery.
Is the Hypervolt Go Right for You?
So, should you purchase the Hypervolt Go, or would you be better off with a different percussive therapy gun?
The Hypervolt Go may NOT be ideal for you if:
You want a gun that can deliver deep tissue massage. The low stall force is just too prohibitive for this purpose.
You want a product that includes a lot of attachments. You will only get two attachments with the Hypervolt Go.
You want longer sessions. The maximum length of a session using this device is 2.5 hours. So, if you need longer sessions, choose a different model with longer battery life and/or replaceable batteries.
The Hypervolt Go may BE ideal for you if:
You want a product to bring to the gym. If you are looking for a percussive therapy gun that you can bring to and from the gym for regular workout aftercare, this product is probably perfect for your needs.
You travel a lot and want an airline-approved percussive therapy gun. You can bring it with you if you are traveling for a sporting event, are on a business trip, or are just on vacation.
You have small hands and want a gun that is comfortable to use. This may make the Hypervolt Go the most suitable choice for you even for use in your own home.
You suffer from any form of strain that makes larger, heavier models painful to use. You will fatigue yourself a lot less using a lightweight, easy-to-maneuver device like the Hypervolt Go.
